Inlet gas separation

What does LNG plant filtration cover?
LNG plant filtration covers four duties: inlet gas separation at the plant fence, amine solvent filtration in the acid gas removal unit, dry gas filtration ahead of cryogenic equipment, and fuel-gas conditioning for the plant’s turbines. Pentair Oil & Gas Separations supplies technology for all four, delivered in Malaysia by ITSB.
Why do conventional inlet separators fall short on LNG duty?
Conventional gas-liquid separators are approximately 20–40% effective at removing liquid aerosols and cannot capture the most penetrating sub-micron droplets . At LNG train flow rates, the remainder carries into amine systems, exchangers and turbines as fouling and foaming.
Which Pentair element is current for LNG inlet separation?
Apex Zenith is the current flagship element for gas/liquid separation, rated above 99.99% efficiency on 0.1 micron aerosols with 50% higher velocity and loading capability than the prior generation . It runs inside UltiSep separators.
Can an existing inlet separator be upgraded without replacing the vessel?
Yes. Pentair’s NexSys vessel re-engineering upgrades existing separators — including competitor vessels — to current Apex Zenith internals without welding or permanently altering the vessel . ITSB has been putting these upgrades into this market for 30 years.
