For 30 years ITSB has engineered, installed and upgraded more of these separation vessels across Malaysian oil & gas than anyone in this market. The threat to that installed base is not old technology — it is copy elements, sold against a nameplate part number, swapped into vessels that were engineered around genuine media. A vessel is a system: the element is the part that decides whether the system still performs.

What “genuine” buys you

Engineering a copy cannot see

Stated efficiency, not nominal ratings. Genuine media grades are Beta-rated to 5,000 — 99.98% efficiency at the stated particle size. Nominal ratings on copy elements are set arbitrarily by the manufacturer and are not comparable between suppliers .

Locked Pore Structure™ media. Micro- and nano-fibers cross-linked so the pore structure cannot shift under differential pressure — the property that holds efficiency through real operating life, not just on day one .

Positive O-ring sealing. Coreless elements seal onto their support core; there is no cap-and-spring path for fluid to bypass the media .

Matched media chemistry. Media grade is selected against your fluid — amine, glycol, condensate, produced water — from a validated range; the wrong polymer blinds off early or sheds into the process .

What a copy element actually costs

The process pays first

Foaming returns, exchangers foul, change-outs accelerate — the failure modes genuine media was engineered out of come back quietly, as operating cost.

The rating is not the rating

A copy quoting the same micron number on a nominal basis is not making the same claim as a Beta 5000 stated-efficiency rating . The paperwork looks equal; the fluid quality is not.

The system loses its backing

Vessel sizing, drainage design and media grade were engineered together. Swap the element and the performance basis — and the in-region engineering support behind it — no longer applies.

Are genuine Pentair elements really different from “equivalent” copies?
Yes, measurably. Genuine media is Beta-rated to 5,000 (99.98% stated efficiency) with a cross-linked Locked Pore Structure that holds under differential pressure; copies are typically nominally rated, which is an arbitrary manufacturer claim, not a comparable specification .
We buy by part number. How do we know we are getting genuine?
Buy through the authorized channel. ITSB is the authorized Pentair Oil & Gas Separations agent for Malaysia & Asia-Pacific and ships genuine elements from regional stock. If a part number is quoted well below market from an unfamiliar source, treat it as a copy until proven otherwise.
Our vessel is 15 years old. Do genuine elements still exist for it?
Yes. Every legacy Pentair or Porous Media element maps to a current genuine equivalent — often a better one, since current generations like MPAX carry 50% more life or 20% more flow than their predecessors . Bring ITSB the nameplate; we match it.
What is the Porous Media connection?
Porous Media is the engineering heritage behind Pentair Oil & Gas Separations — the originator of UltiSep, the Apex element line and coreless filtration. Genuine Porous Media filter elements are today manufactured and developed under Pentair .
Can our vessel be upgraded rather than just re-elemented?
Often, yes. The NexSys vessel re-engineering program refits existing vessels — including competitor housings — with current genuine internals, typically without welding or permanent modification . ITSB engineers these upgrades locally.
